Philadelphia Flower Show – Want to Help?

Happy New Year! This year is already flying by way to fast, especially when we realize that the Philadelphia Flower Show starts on March 4! If you’ve never been, the flower show is a MUST SEE. www.theflowershow.com. This year's theme is "Explore America" celebrating the National Parks, but of course that theme could also apply beautifully to our America in Bloom national awards program.

The PHS Philadelphia Flower Show is an annual event at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in March. It is the world’s oldest and largest indoor flower show, attracting more than 260,000 people annually. The Show features large-scale gardens, elaborate landscapes, and over-the-top floral creations.

Visitors are treated to fabulous design, live entertainment, gardening how-to workshops, and lectures by experts.

For the fifth year, America in Bloom is having a display garden at the show. What better way to showcase what we do to so many people? And we can do it brilliantly with your help.

The generous folks at Proven Winners are donating all the plant material. Jon Carloftis Fine Gardens has designed our garden as a gift to AIB. Longwood Antique Woods is contributing the construction of a cabin. GrowIt! is creating a special app so that our guests can learn about the plants in our garden. Many of our AIB board members and judges are planning to be on hand to greet guests from all over the US.

Would you and perhaps a friend be willing to donate a few hours of volunteer time in the AIB display garden? Available volunteer dates are Monday 3/7 through Friday 3/11. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. All we ask is four hours of your time. In return, you will get a free admission ticket to the show. No other compensation or reimbursement is available.

If you’re interested in helping, please contact Evelyn Alemanni at alemanni@allea.com no later than January 10.
