Best Petunias for Hanging Baskets?

America in
Bloom is starting their 15th National Awards Program with teams of
professional volunteer judges heading out this summer to visit 40 communities
across America. These communities are encouraged to plant flowers to announce
the importance of quality landscapes and bring attention to the historic
heritage and overall charm of their communities.

Hanging
baskets are often the most striking floral displays in our America in Bloom
communities. They are the “flashing lights” demanding attention. In order to
ensure that these baskets remain colorful all summer long, it is important to select
the right varieties of flowers.
In my experience judging America in Bloom cities,
petunias are often the best choice for flowering hanging baskets. Petunias are
bright, drought tolerant and disease resistant.
Baskets of petunias are full of flowers and some varieties will cascade
over 2 feet creating dramatic effects. Three of the best pink petunias for
hanging baskets are Supertunia® Vista Bubblegum® from Proven Winners
(Figure 1), Easy Wave® Pink Passion Petunia from Ball Horticulture (Figure 2), and
ColorWorks™ Pink Radiance from Sakata Seeds (Figure 3).

Please send photos and variety names of hanging basket flowers –
petunias or other flowers you recommend. I would love to add them to my list! And
if you have a recommended maintenance program, that would be amazing. This
