Adrian Benepe, Senior Vice President, Director of City park Department for the Trust for Public Lands  writes in his blog http://www.huffingtonpost.com/adrian-benepe/post_8588_b_6369034.html about the accomplishments of communities in making parks a priority for their citizens. Voters enthusiastically voted to not only create green spaces, but monies for conservation and the future maintenance of these spaces. Reading this article provides me with encouragement for the importance of  future  green spaces.
